SugarSmart AI is NOT a medical service and NOT a medical device. We are a wellness and nutrition-education platform that provides general nutritional guidance and meal suggestions. SugarSmart AI has not been evaluated by the FDA and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent any disease. We do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment of any kind.

Our meal plans, food recommendations, glycemic index (GI) values, and nutritional information are generated by artificial intelligence and are for educational and wellness purposes ONLY. They are not a substitute for professional medical advice from a qualified physician, endocrinologist, registered dietitian, or other licensed healthcare provider.

ALWAYS consult your doctor, endocrinologist, or certified diabetes educator before:

  • Making any changes to your diet or eating habits
  • Modifying, starting, or stopping any medication
  • Adjusting insulin doses or diabetes medication timing based on dietary changes
  • Following any meal plan, including those generated by SugarSmart AI
  • Using any food or supplement to manage blood sugar levels

GI values and nutritional data provided are approximate estimates generated by AI. Actual glycemic response varies significantly based on individual metabolism, food preparation methods, portion sizes, food combinations, and personal health conditions. Do not rely solely on our GI values for insulin dosing or medication adjustments.

SugarSmart AI, its founders, employees, and affiliates accept NO responsibility or liability for any adverse health outcomes, complications, allergic reactions, blood sugar emergencies, or any other health consequences that may arise from following our meal suggestions or dietary information.

If you experience any adverse symptoms including but not limited to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), hyperglycemia (high blood sugar), allergic reactions, or any other medical emergency, stop following the meal plan immediately and seek medical attention.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using any SugarSmart AI service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and our Medical Disclaimer above. If you do not agree to any part of these terms, you must not use our service.

2. Not a Medical Device. SugarSmart AI has not been evaluated by the FDA.

SugarSmart AI is a wellness and nutrition-education platform. It has NOT been evaluated, reviewed, cleared, or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or any comparable regulatory body. Features such as meal plans, medication interaction information, gut-health guides, 30-day reset guides, and health suggestions are educational and wellness content only — they are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent any disease. Use is at your own risk. For any medical decision — including starting, stopping, or adjusting medications, diet, or treatment — consult a licensed physician, endocrinologist, or registered dietitian.

3. Nature of Service

SugarSmart AI is an AI-powered wellness and nutrition-education platform. We use artificial intelligence to generate general dietary and lifestyle suggestions based on user-provided health data. Our service is an educational meal-planning tool — NOT a medical device, medical service, or clinical treatment. Our meal plans and guides are algorithmically generated educational content and have NOT been individually reviewed or approved by a physician or registered dietitian.

4. No Doctor-Patient Relationship

Use of SugarSmart AI does not create a doctor-patient relationship, dietitian-client relationship, or any other professional healthcare relationship. We are a technology company providing an educational wellness tool, not a healthcare provider.

5. User-Provided Health Data

You are solely responsible for the accuracy of health information you provide (HbA1c levels, weight, medications, allergies, etc.). Inaccurate information may result in inappropriate meal suggestions. SugarSmart AI is not liable for consequences arising from inaccurate user data. Medication lists shown inside the product are user-reported — based on information you provided during onboarding — and may not reflect current prescriptions.

6. Allergies & Food Restrictions

While our AI attempts to honor stated food restrictions and allergies, AI-generated content may occasionally contain errors. Users with severe food allergies (anaphylaxis risk) must independently verify all ingredients in suggested meals. SugarSmart AI is NOT liable for allergic reactions resulting from our meal suggestions.

7. AI-Generated Content Limitations

Our meal plans, GI values, nutritional information, and dietary suggestions are generated by artificial intelligence. AI can make errors, including but not limited to: incorrect GI values, inaccurate calorie counts, inappropriate food pairings, or suggestions that conflict with certain medications. Always cross-reference with your healthcare provider.

8. Not Suitable for Medical Emergencies

SugarSmart AI is not designed for managing diabetic emergencies, acute hypoglycemia, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), or any acute medical conditions. In case of a medical emergency, call 911 (US), 112 (EU), 108 (India), or your local emergency services immediately.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SUGARSMART AI AND ITS FOUNDERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OUR SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO HEALTH COMPLICATIONS, ADVERSE REACTIONS, BLOOD SUGAR FLUCTUATIONS, HOSPITALIZATION, OR ANY OTHER HEALTH OUTCOMES. YOU USE SUGARSMART AI ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SugarSmart AI and its team from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the service, your reliance on our meal plans or educational content, or your violation of these terms.

11. Account & Data

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account. Your health data is encrypted (AES-256) and stored securely. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting support.

12. Health Data

We collect self-reported health information including HbA1c levels, weight, height, medications, and dietary preferences. This data is encrypted using AES-256 and used solely for generating personalized meal plans. We do not share your health data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

13. Data Processing

Your health data is processed by AI systems to generate dietary suggestions. The AI processes your data in real-time to create meal plans and does not store your data after processing is complete. Your data remains encrypted in our database and is only sent to the AI provider when generating or regenerating plans.

14. No Medical Records

SugarSmart AI does not create, maintain, or access medical records. We are not a healthcare provider, covered entity, or business associate under HIPAA or equivalent regulations. The health information you provide is self-reported dietary preference data, not clinical medical records.

15. Data Security

We use industry-standard encryption (AES-256) for health data at rest and TLS 1.3 for data in transit. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Authentication uses HttpOnly, SameSite cookies. We implement rate limiting and regular security audits to protect your information.

16. Subscriptions & Refunds

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe. You may cancel at any time from your billing dashboard. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis within 7 days of purchase.

17. Modifications to Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

18. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration.

By using SugarSmart AI, you confirm that:

  • You understand this is an educational wellness AI tool, not a medical device or medical service
  • You will consult your doctor before following any meal plan
  • You accept full responsibility for your dietary choices
  • You will not hold SugarSmart AI liable for any health outcomes
